April 9, 2021 - Possible Roundabouts in Cicero

Neighbors -

In keeping with the theme of traffic issues in Cicero, I wanted to bring your attention to 2 pending intersection redesigns slated for construction in the Fall of 2022. The intersections of Rt. 31 & Thompson Rd. and Rt. 31 & South Bay Rd. have open NYS DOT projects.

According to NYS DOT, “The improvements may be in the form of separate left turn lanes or the construction of a round about.”

Improvements at these intersections are desperately needed, but roundabouts may not be the right solution. I’d ask you to reference the relatively new roundabout built in Bridgeport, which tends to slow traffic down rather than keeping it flowing.

I should point out that this project, coming in at an estimated 3.8 Million, is not being funded by local tax dollars. All funds are being received from the Federal & State level.

While this project is still in development and no decisions have been made about the final redesign layout, I would still encourage you to express any concerns you have to Town leadership, in the hope that they will relay them to the appropriate individuals at NYS DOT.

In addition, here is the link to the project directly from NYS. It has all the information about the project as well as the contact info for our local NYS DOT Public Information Officer:

https://www.dot.ny.gov/portal/pls/portal/MEXIS_APP.DYN_PROJECT_DETAILS.show?p_arg_names=p_pin&p_arg_values=303771

Also on deck is a road rehab project that will go from CNS High School to South Bay Rd. for the “provision for turning lanes, sidewalks and drainage improvements”.

Construction for this project is also slated for Fall 2022 and carries an estimated cost of 2.5 Million, again getting funding from Federal and State level. You can find more info on that project here:

https://www.dot.ny.gov/portal/pls/portal/MEXIS_APP.DYN_PROJECT_DETAILS.show?p_arg_names=p_pin&p_arg_values=303774

For many of you, this is likely the first you’re hearing about these projects. While not initiated by the town, these projects greatly impact the town. Yet, there has been no communication from Town Hall to inform residents of what’s happening. It’s past time for that to change.

The need for more open and proactive communication are some of the reasons why I am running for the Cicero Town Board this year.

March 15, 2021 - Update on Lakeshore Marina Apartments

Neighbors -

It’s been over 3 years, but the proposal for the apartments at Lakeshore Marina is back on the table.

The project developer, TreyJay Loso LLC, has brought back their proposal for a 248-unit luxury, gated apartment complex with rent starting at $1,800 a month. In addition, they are asking for a payment-in-lieu-of-tax agreement (PILOT) that would provide them with a 6 MILLION dollar tax break.

Keeping in mind that there is still an open application for the neighborhood development at Horner Farm off Lakeshore, this project would only add to the already overcrowded roads in our town. I continue to hear from traffic study experts that Cicero doesn’t have a major traffic problem. I’m guessing they don’t live here.

I question why a luxury apartment complex feels it’s appropriate to ask for tax breaks with such high unit rent costs. Possible construction of the project aside, if built, these tax breaks would be detrimental to our town tax base and school tax base. In short, we all would pay more.

Also on the horizon - A massive residential and senior apartment complex with 400+ units behind Sun Auto on Rt 11. Again, the preliminary traffic reports came back with a rating of “low impact”.

Additionally, we are 15 years OVERDUE for a comprehensive plan for Cicero that would help guide development and growth. Cicero’s last comprehensive plan was done was done in 2006.

Issues like these are the reason I am running for the Cicero Town Board this year alongside Mike Aregano and Jon Karp. These projects are NOT in the best interest of the town — it’s time to fix Cicero’s existing problems, not add to them. I look forward to working collaboratively with ALL stakeholders in the town to build a new comprehensive and strategic plan that will better serve Cicero moving forward.

I urge everyone to make sure your voices and concerns are heard on what is going on in our town. It impacts all of us.

To my Cicero Friends & Neighbors:

I am pleased and excited to announce my run for a seat on the Cicero Town Board this year.

I’ve had the pleasure of being born and raised in Cicero. Every day, I have the opportunity to meet and get to know the diverse people who we all get to call our neighbors.

My drive to run for a seat on the Cicero Town Board directly reflects my passion to be a voice for OUR community. To make responsible and common-sense decisions that will benefit EVERYONE who calls Cicero home.

As a community in the heart of New York State, we get the opportunity to host visitors from all around. I feel that we should all be proud of our community and want to show others just how much we have to offer and how much pride we have. We need to make Cicero a place people want to move to and educate their children.

It’s my goal to recover and rebuild our town's infrastructure. By focusing on rebuilding our infrastructure, fixing our roads, reconfiguring traffic patterns, and creating a long term and sustainable comprehensive plan, we can make Cicero the best town it can be.

When we properly focus on our community's wants and needs, it will not only make people proud to live in Cicero, but it will also become the place where families want to move.

I’m passionate to work for everyone who lives and works in Cicero and I look forward to doing what's best for our community. ⁣
