About the Candidate

Michael A. Mirizio

As a lifelong resident of Cicero, I am honored and humbled to be running for a seat on our Town Board.

Born and raised in Cicero, I attended schools in the North Syracuse Central School District, graduating in 2010. I then continued my education at Le Moyne College, graduating in 2014 with a degree in Political Science and a Minor in Religious Studies.

I currently sit on the North Syracuse Central School District Board of Education, first gaining a seat in 2011. I now serve as Vice President. I have been involved with many district committees and activities for many years, and currently continue to volunteer my time with students that not only benefit them but also better our community as a whole.

In 2014, I founded Four Dimension Productions (4D Productions), a registered 501(c)(3), based out of the North Syracuse Junior High School, and currently serve as an executive director. This program works with students in various grade levels on Live Event Production focusing on lighting design, audio engineering, stage design, and video production. 4D Productions has been internationally recognized and serves to provide the community with a place to hold a wide range of meetings and events at district locations as well as select community venues.

Toward the end of 2019, I was appointed by the North Syracuse Board of Education to fill an open seat on the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority for one term. This board is unique in that its members are comprised of representatives from multiple municipalities and government appointees selected by the Mayor of Syracuse.

At the start of 2020, I was appointed by the Town Board to sit on the Town of Cicero Planning Board as an Ad Hoc member and still sit on the board today.

I was also accepted to and attended the 2020 CNY Political Leadership Institute, a program developed by Leadership Greater Syracuse to help educate and better inform those who are in and who wish to enter public service. This bipartisan program brought forth a wealth of knowledge from our various guest speakers and political leaders from around Central New York. I have also joined Honor Flight Syracuse. While we may not have been able to fly our veterans to Washington D.C. this past year, it’s a privilege to be a part of such an exceptional program.

I am employed with the Onondaga Cortland Madison Board of Cooperative Educational Services (OCM BOCES) as their Director of Technology.

I am the son of Anthony and Sharon Mirizio who also reside in Cicero. I have one sister, Maria, who is a graduate student at Utica College, and one brother, Stephen, who is a Physical Education teacher in the North Syracuse Central School District.

Over the past ten years, my public service involvement has helped develop plans to accommodate the numerous new mandates that our community is facing. Through collaborative efforts, I have been involved in many different committees throughout our school district and our community to help make the most effective and responsible changes that have had to be made.

I, like many of you, strongly feel that Cicero and our community are in dire need of change for the better. While I applaud the increase in business and development in our town, I feel we may be moving too fast. Cicero's Comprehensive Plan has not been updated since 2006 and is in need of a massive overhaul to accommodate and properly prioritize initiatives and projects in a way that aligns with the town's continued growth.

Cicero is a great community, and I want to make sure we all have a say in keeping it the community we want to live in.
